Sin embargo, la Comunidad Autónoma de Cataluña y la Comunidad Valenciana han creado el Impuesto sobre las emisiones de dióxido de carbono de los vehículos de tracción mecánica, un gravamen directo de las emisiones potenciales de cada vehículo, por lo que se plantea ahora el futuro del tributo municipal.Summary: The fight against climate change is having a decisive influence on automobile taxation, given that the transport sector is the main polluting activity in Spain. The municipal Tax on Mechanical Traction Vehicles is a direct tax levied on the ownership of vehicles suitable for driving on public roads. However, the Autonomous Community of Catalonia and the Valencian Community have created the Tax on carbon dioxide emissions from mechanically-tracted vehicles, a direct tax on the potential emissions of each vehicle, which is why the future of that tribute.
